DIY Wet Bar Before and After Glow Up

I haven’t showcased our wet bar that is in a closet between our living room and dining room too much, but I sure do love it! And - it was a very simple and relatively affordable project. I say relatively because the cost of the counter was a bit more but, given such a small space we wanted it to match our regular kitchen counter which is a marbled quartzite.

Here is a look at the lovely before

The glass shelves weren’t fitting the look we were after and I decided it was easier to just paint the cabinets, intead of buy and install new ones. I think my biggest question, is why didn’t they put a fake handle on the right drawer for symmetry? I digress.

The wallpaper behind the bar was a reddish/pink Seagrass cloth. Honestly, it was in great condition - no peeling or puckering so I decided to paint it. (Yes, you can do that!) I decided to paint it the same color as my island, Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal - one of my favorite dark gray paint colors. A very easy project, to be honest.

I chose this matte black faucet from Amazon and some black hardware just from the local hardware store here. We installed these shelves from Pottery Barn - though I found these at the Outlet store here in Memphis and I didn’t pay anything close to this full amount. So make sure to check the Pottery Barn Outlets - you never know what you can find there! The counter top company included a new undercount stainless steel sink. I also just pulled up the light so it isn’t visible and switched it to an edison bulb. No cost there!

Here’s a look at the progression of the bar:

My kitchen hardware is gold, which is why I left the gold hinges because it does tie into the rest of the kitchen. Here is a look at how to paint the grasscloth wallpaper. Stay tuned for a how to paint cabinets - the easy way!

As always, let me know if you have any questions!

Cheers!
